The Perils Of A Journey To Forever

Being a Filipina and in a committed relationship with an Australian poses several perils in My Journey To Forever.

The world wide web contains disparaging information about after marriage accounts of Filipinas who have divorced their spouses as soon as they gained their citizenship in the country. Some websites that forewarn other males about horrific personal loss and agony and even provide detailed signs to be vigilant before and after marrying a Filipina.

I have even read Commentaries left by Filipinos at websites and they attest that Filipinas are driven to seek foreign husbands as their only succour from poverty besides other camouflaged reasons. There was one that even warned about foreigners wedded to Filipinas who end up providing financial assistance to the family members of their spouse.

This and so much more reports about the perils that a foreigner has to be wary about when marrying a Filipina. Although, I cannot discredit these reports that are published in the first person, but in the same breath I also have to say that it leaves a lot to be desired when it may hurt the opportunities of Filipinas who are genuine individuals and who marry a foreigner for noble reasons.

The stigma and stank that these “black sheep” Filipinas have created is a dampener when it deals with Immigration issues and perceptions. It has created a disadvantageous scenario for other Filipinas that follow suit whereby the Filipina is “guilty until proven innocent”. It is not only the scourge of having to prove one’s own integrity but it also means that the length of time taken for statutory approvals becomes an emotional burden.

Cross cultural, marital conflict and financial issues have also been up for scrutiny in Down-Under. There was a detailed study that was conducted by the University of Melbourne on the latter titled, “Marital conflict and finances among Filipinas in Australia” where it described as follows:

…finance is a constant point of tension in many Filipina–Australian marriages. It seems that in migrating to Australia, many Filipinas exchange one type of money problem for another — one that they rarely foresee.

From all the deplorable accounts that I came across, there was this one that provided a saving grace.

Beautiful Filipina Women will not find it hard to find a boyfriend from overseas. This is because men are also seeking them. Foreign men also like to meet women from the Philippines. The Pinays, the local term for Filipina, have gained a good reputation. They are known not only for their beautiful and exotic Asian look but most importantly their admirable character and attitude.
Filipino wives are known for their resilience, strong Christian faith, sunny disposition, sweetness, charm, and passionate character. A man who is married to a Filipina woman would feel and live like a king. Why? This is because the woman expresses her love to her husband by serving him, supporting him and be submissive to him. The Pinay is simply not a domesticated person, but she understands fully well that her role as a wife is to make her husband her number 1 priority. All beautiful Filipina women are being taught how to become a wife by their own mothers since this is part of the culture.
