Getting Ready For A Summer Sports Fest

We are going to hold a Sports Festival at our Church locale on Tuesday, May 1st. My friends at Church and myself are going to be early on the venue to take care of the cleaning and to fix whatever is needed fixing including Tube Bending or even fixing the rings on the basketball courts that we’re scheduled to use.

It’s going to be another very busy day for sure. Thank God my vacation leave for Monday is approved. I’d be looking rested for the event! :)

We all hope and pray that the activity will be a successful one. All to God’s glory!

Summer Music Class For Kids

Summer is a great time to enjoy and bond with our family. But it is also the time of the year when kids learn and have fun at the same time.

It’s important for the parents to know their children’s interest. When I and my siblings were kids, my Mom make sure that we get ourselves enrolled to summer fun classes. I remember my big brother taking basketball classes and our little brother on taekwondo. My mother forced me to learn about cosmetology which I have little interest about. But since she give me a good amount of money for my allowance, I so gladly committed myself to the classes.

Anyway, nowadays schools and some organizations prepare more fun and exciting classes for kids. If I become a parent myself, I would want my kids to learn to play music instruments like the violin, tubas and the piano. I’d like them to be a music lover like myself.

Since I haven’t ended up making music my career, my future kids might as well have that dream come true for themselves. :)

Azkals Out of 2014 World Cup Qualifiers

The Philippines’ bid to the World Cup ended when the Philippine Azkals lost to Kuwait the other night to a convincing 2-0 win by the latter.

The Azkaleros was a young team alright but hopes were high that they could somehow make it.

The Filipino nation went gaga over the young players showing their support may it be outside the country or within our territory. Some even had some football paraphernalias personalized to show their strong support for the team. I am not too sure how different is that to personalized baseball bats because I have always been a basketball fanatic :-)

Personally, I was hopeful that the Azkals can make it but when you analyze the young team’s capacity versus the top 50 team in the over-all standing of the World Cup which is Kuwait, there was no way the team could ever make it. The Azkaleros played valiantly though and it showed their heart playing for the Philippine flag. The effort was fantastic but just wasn’t enough to advance their bid to the World Cup.

However, Azkals is the first  team in Philippine sports history to have gone past the first round of qualifiers.

We Are the Champions

Yesterday was another milestone in the world of sports. Our very own Manny Pacquiao once again proved he is unbeatable in the boxing arena. It was an incredible win by Pacman against Shane Mosley. Most importantly, it was a crime-free day in the entire country on May 8, the very day the fight was staged in Las Vegas, Nevada. The win made us all proud to be Filipinos :-)

Pacman in action!

In another note, I was so brokenhearted last night. Barangay Ginebra Kings wasn’t able to stretch the series to Game 7 in the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup . While TnT fans were obviously in jubilation, I was very disappointed with the turn-out. I give the credit to the TnT players nonetheless for never refusing to lose heart in upstaging a huge comeback to overcome a 15-point lead by The Kings in the third quarter.

All’s well that ends well. It’s a good thing I didn’t suffer from heart attack, LOL! The game was extended in overtime giving my heart erratic beats.

In another side of the world, the Dallas Mavericks had a sweep  of the Western Conference Best-of-7 Semifinal series against the two-time defending Champion, L.A. Lakers. The Mavericks will advance to the West Finals. How sweet!

This week’s Music Monday shall be anchored on the victories of those who excelled in their fields, especially to our very own, Manny Pacquiao! You’re definitely the man!

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS

I’ve paid my dues –
Time after time –
I’ve done my sentence
But committed no crime –
And bad mistakes
I’ve made a few
I’ve had my share of sand kicked in my face –
But I’ve come through

We are the champions – my friends
And we’ll keep on fighting – till the end –
We are the champions –
We are the champions
No time for losers
‘Cause we are the champions – of the world –

I’ve taken my bows
And my curtain calls –
You brought me fame and fortuen and everything that goes with it -
I thank you all –

But it’s been no bed of roses
No pleasure cruise –
I consider it a challenge before the whole human race –
And I ain’t gonna lose –

We are the champions – my friends
And we’ll keep on fighting – till the end –
We are the champions –
We are the champions
No time for losers
‘Cause we are the champions – of the world -
