I have been spending my weekends with my boyfriend’s family lately. I like it here. Maybe because I don’t feel alone. I won’t have to be in my solitude, in my little room for 2 days. I have someone to chat with and laugh with even if it would mean I won’t have to get enough sleep on my rest days. There are things you need to sacrifice sometimes, to be happy. LOL!

But then, even if I am with someone else’s family, I still can’t help but think about my folks back in the province. I haven’t been home for months now. I terribly miss my family. I don’t even know how they now look like. I haven’t seen any new pictures of my Mom and brothers in Facebook. The last time I talked to my younger brother over the phone, he told me my Mom had already recovered from being sick and that they’re alright now including my nephew, Brandon who seem to be growing up pretty fast. Except for our older brother who’s on Police training right now. He’s lost a lot of weight. The training must have been so intense. I worry about him sometimes.

I miss spending time with my relatives, especially with Lainy and her familly. Her Mom’s house is always my first stop whenever I come home. I like it when Tita Rose prepare my favorite “kinilaw na isda” (ceviche) and have fun chatting with her while Lainy pops in the kitchen to take a rest from her online chores and join our conversation. And then later on, in the evening, jam with Kuerdas Band on their gigs. Just thinking about that make me feel like going home right now.

I wish I have enough money so I can be with them whenever I want. I haven’t even had my homecoming scheduled this year yet. I’m keeping an eye on the PromoFare by Cebu Pacific. I hope I can get a cheap plane ride back home.

For now, I will have to content myself with the family that I have here in Manila. Thanks to my friends who care enough to not make me feel lonesome and even make me feel like I’m home, somehow.

But still, there’s no place like home, isn’t it?

I’m planning to move to a better apartment. My problem is, I still don’t have the time to search for a new pad yet and I also haven’t found a room mate/ room mates to share the rent with. A better apartment meant more expensive rent. I don’t want to be paying an expensive rent by myself. I’d be broke if I decided to do so.

I wanted a place that I can repaint and make interior designs on. I also wanted to invest on some personal furnitures like a living and a dining set and also buy one of those nice dressing tables for my bedroom. I just wanted a place that I can really call a home, you know.

In my present little pad, I feel like I’m a transient college boarder. I’m not supposed to live like that anymore.

Just like what my Mom kept telling me, I should start investing for my home so that I won’t have to buy all that I need all at once because that will mean I’d be spending a lot of money for that in an instance. She’s right about that!

You might be wondering why you’re reading this post right now. Lainy is taking a break. She asked me to take over her blogs for the mean time. Until when? We don’t know yet. But meanwhile, I hope you guys are going to pardon my rubbish.  I promise you, Lainy won’t be on break for too long. She’ll be back with great posts and stories to tell you all. This has been part of her life, anyway, and it’s impossible that she’s going to turn her back from blogging. This has been her baby for years.

One of the many things that my Kido and I have in common is our love for music. We’re both members of our church’s choral group. He loves to sing but let’s just say his voice is suited for a choir. Not for mainstream lead vocals.

He actually wants to improve on the technical side of music. He told me many times that he wanted to invest on completing his sound system so he can profit from it. He will have it rented on events.

Whenever we go to the mall, he always grabs my hand and brings me to the music store where he can check out the gadgets like that of numark mixtrack that he so wanted to acquire. I will always tell him that he’s got a lot of saving to do so he can purchase his dream gadgets. And that if ever we end up together, I might help him out. Of course I just said that to myself! It’s still too early to say, anyway!

The Yearend Party at work wouldn’t be as fun as it was without the glorious foods served before us. The Boss chose the menu for the night. Before each of the five groups showed off their respective dance moves on center stage, we took delight on all the food that was laid down on the long table.

A Sojourner’s Saga started as a blog about LOVE. I also would like to share some stories about me and my boyfriend here at Lainy’s blog, if you don’t mind. I don’t think you all have a choice! LOL!

My boyfriend is a kid. He’s actually way too young for me. I don’t know. I never planned to be in a relationship with someone younger. But here I am. Not exactly head over heels in love with him but I love him. Just like that!

My love story with him right now is not like the stories you read in fairy tale books. I think most real love stories are like that. He’s not even romantic. We’re together for almost 5 months now yet I never received even a single flower from him. Even if he has free shipping coupon on proflowers.com, I’m not expecting him to even remember to bring me flowers on our upcoming monthsary.

Why am I still holding on to our relationship? It’s because I’m happy about just loving someone. Even if he’s got a lot of growing up to do.

I’m not exactly sure how we are going to end. I’m just happy about how we are right now.

I haven’t been home for months now. The last time I went home was during Lainy’s brother’s wedding (Jayson and Shane’s wedding) and that was back in April 28 of last year.

I miss GenSan. I wonder if it’s still raining cats and dogs over there. I haven’t been watching the news lately so and  I also haven’t asked my brother, even Lainy, about the weather while we exchanged text messages recently. I wonder if the weather is cold right now that they have to wear jackets like that of spyder jackets at PeterGlenn.com to keep them warm. I miss the cool weather at home. I miss my family.

I hope I’d be able to go home this coming summer. I would love to hang out with my family and relatives back home. It is yet a plan. I will have to check the famous airline website and see if I can take advantage of a promo fare. I hope I’d be one of the lucky ones!

Dancing is way out of my comfort zone. You can ask me to sing a song, memorize a book, speak in front of an audience, or write an essay but you can never ask me to sway my booty.

So you can just imagine how stupefied I was when I learned that the Boss wants a dance group competition for our Yearend Party at work. How can I ever lead my team when I myself don’t know how to dance? 

We hardly had enough time to practice because we just arrived from our Dapitan trip. Believe it or not, we only had three nights of practice, maximum of two hours each night. During practice, I was complaining a lot coz of the flirty moves that the trainor wants us to do. I sternly told her that I can never do those kind of moves and if she keeps on insisting, I will never be able to join the group in the competition. 

Good thing, the next night, our working OSY at work overhauled the entire dance moves. I felt a little comfortable but I have to admit, I am not a graceful dancer because in the first place, I am NO dancer. Isn’t it obvious till now that I’ve got two left feet? LOL! 

We once had our practice during lunchbreak and we were caught off guard upon knowing that someone recorded the whole thing. Will you be able to recognize me from among the group? 

I find it funny because I was tasked by the Boss to formulate a criteria for the competition. However, he did a lot of modification when I presented to him the draft. He tried to simplify everything.

My SIL and I did the last minute grocery shopping for the New Year’s Eve. It was all too tiring as we had to line up on long queues. Some stocks weren’t available in the grocery store that we first went to and so we had to go to another store just to be able to complete the purchase.

I almost had cramps from too much exhaustion. We decided to have lunch at Jollibee at past 12 noon. We were able to take a little rest from standing up too long. I have tried to do away from eating the sinfully yummy food offered by Jollibee for a long time now, but that day, I just can’t help it. I simply indulged myself and had my stomach full.

It could have been a very sad New Year for us had my brother wasn’t able to extinguish the fire that broke out in my mother’s house a few hours before New Year’s Eve. I wasn’t there when it happened. I can only imagine my brother in a state of panic when he tried to douse the fire.

While doing so, he could hear the loud cry of our Morning Dew. My brother was more concerned for Morning Dew’s welfare. He was thinking the worse. Morning Dew cried out louder and louder when he smelled the smoke after my brother was able to douse the fire by quite a handful of bucket of water. He did it by his lonesome because no one helped out after he shouted for help. I surmised everyone must have been very busy preparing for the New Year’s Eve. My brother felt very helpless. The fire was caused by a faulty wiring and overloaded circuits.

We feel very grateful that no one was hurt. It was only my brother and our Morning Dew at home when it happened. I and my SIL were doing our last minute grocery shopping when I received my brother’s SMS. I had to inform my mother and my other brother who were still on their way home from attending our family reunion.

Indeed, it’s more than enough blessing to still have my family all intact for the New Year- unharmed. I return back all the glory to our Lord God Almighty for the protection and guidance that he has bestowed on me and my family.
