Friday Fill-In # 104

This isn’t a good week for me. I have fever since Wednesday and up until now, my temperature just refuses to get back to normal. I haven’t got enough sleep last night. I had my asthma attack again. Life is hard when I have difficulty breathing. I have just been lying in bed since yesterday. I awoke from my little nap when an earthquake intensity # 5 scared the hell out of us! Wheew! Good thing I was sick and I wasn’t in the mall. There was a little stampede there that hurt a number of women and children. I’m just grateful that no one was badly hurt. I hope I get better soon and get to accomplish some tasks that I set out to do offline. I still have a few days off work and I certainly would want to seize the moment and enjoy what’s left of it.

Now for the Friday Fill-Ins:

  1. I must accomplish all things that are expected of me like becoming a good servant of God before I die.
  2. You can’t stop me from gushing whenever I hear a beautiful love song (Hopeless romantic itech, hehe)
  3. I wish I never had to buy inhalers or nebules again.
  4. God has helped me change my life.
  5. I know the song Rest of Our Lives by heart.
  6. If I weren’t so afraid, I would have learned the basics of swimming by now.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to getting a good sleep hopefully without asthma attacks bugging me, tomorrow my plans include go out canvass for a new fridge, that is, if my health condition would allow me and Sunday, I want to buy groceries for New Year’s Eve!

Lainy-belle,

I am so sorry to know that you have an asthmatic condition. I know how it hurts because I saw how my grandpa suffered through the remaining years of his life with that condition.

Having learned from my grandpa, it is very important that you avoid damp and cold places. I know that is difficult when the place of employ is airconditioned and the air is kept constantly at low temperatures.

Besides wearing warm clothes in cooler conditons, the other way is to build up your lung resilience and health through routine physical exercise that is carefully monitored.

Dependency on drug and mouth sprays though at times unavoidable does not improve the overall resistance.

I also know that there are special herbs that can be purchased from Chinese Medical shops which help to improve the condition. However, naturopathy takes a long time for the effects to be felt as compared to drugs. Though naturopathy takes a longer time, it however is a more permanent cure than instant shot-time relief that drugs provide.

Avoid being caught in the rain and during the wet season, keep your body warm.

I hope that one day soonest, you will overcome this delibitating respiratory illness.

God bless you Always,

Hi Lainy, I was reading your post and wondered if you had ever heard of turmeric in the use of allergic reactions … in other words for people who use inhalers. There has been much medical research about it recently. Apparently there is something withing then curcumin inside the turmeric which has been found to be useful for all kinds of medical conditions. Some for breathing wheezing, rhinitis, watery eyes, etc and some for aches and pains caused through illnesses that involve swelling such as arthritis. To get enough curcumin (curcuminoids) it is usually necessary to take in a tablet version – these however vary depending on where they are purchased. It seems that the tablets should have the equivalent of 10,000mg of the root powder to be effective. I use ones from http://www.healthspan.co.uk/search.aspx?query=turmeric

It may be worthwhile discussing with your doctor to see if they would benefit you and enable you to decrease the amount of uses on your inhaler.

This is just a suggestion – it may be of no use whatsoever but I thought that I would mention it.

I hope that your Christmas has been most enjoyable – :)

Take care, Polly x
