Yeah. Just like everyone else who has ventured into paid blogging seriously, me too have been stripped of my ranking after less than a month of enjoying the badge displayed in my page. I should have ranted about this right away after I have lost my Page Rank 3 (PR 3), but I couldn’t find the time to rant and rave and lambast Google for the evil act (haha!), thus this delayed post.
Well, I got too excited by the opportunities that came my way, especially the big bucks offered by PayPerPost. Had I known that PPP was a hot target by Google, I should have cooled down a bit and collected my senses before I grabbed all their offers. If only I heeded Smorty’s warning right from the start which says and I quote in toto:
“There have been some recent changes that search engines have made with regard to sponsored postings.Smorty would like to offer you some advice on this issue. Search engines have primarily targeted member blogs and reduced their Page ranks across the board. Although this WILL NOT REDUCE your rankings or readership, your blog will receive more campaign offers if it has a higher page rank. To prevent any future loss of page rank due to this issue you can take the following steps:(1) Remove all sponsored post tags on each of your posts. Search engines can follow these tags to determine if you are being paid for posts.(2) Remove any other tags like “hire me” and “review me”. Any general affiliate banners are fine to keep.”
Too late for “if only’s.” I was one of those slapped by Google with zero ranking when they updated last January. Sure, I still can blog without my PR. I have never been particular with rankings but I would be a hypocrite if I say I wouldn’t love a higher than zero rank; it wouldn’t be too bad. My passion for blogging haven’t been undermined by the PR zero-slapping attack by Google. I believe it has served its purpose- that of having to express oneself without being prejudged. Fostering friendships and enhanced relationships among and between co-bloggers are also a treasure that can not be paid by any amount of offers and higher page rankings.

Ouch! too bad naman yan. I can’t share in your pain coz I’m just a newbie. I was thinking of joining ppp but my blog is not yet qualified, not 90 days old yet. I’m a member of smorty though and I must admit I followed their “warning” about ppp. Well, I can’t really feel the difference since am still big “0″ hahahaha… Don’t worry, you’re still a good blogger! *wink.
Thanks pala for the comment about the pic @ kuya jess’ site hahahaha.. natawa ako.. it was just a joke. Tsaka its kuya’s contest naman, its his decision. Isa pa kaya ko nga nilagay mga pics ko sa header ko kasi c kuya eh di nilagay pic ko sa side wahahahaha.. joke! peace.

You’re page is so nice for a newbie, Twinks! I find Smorty a lot better than PPP, pays in a week unlike PPP where you have to wait a month for the payment. Thanks for the compliment, too. I’ll be adding you in my list in a short while, hope you wouldn’t mind to be included in my fabulous bloggers’ list

@ FYRNZ: In some ways, built relationships did helped, Fyrnz, coz when you gain real friends, they would take time out to hit you back no matter what. Anyways, PR or no PR, I know real friends will stay and will keep coming back here. I am glad I have acquired true people who isn’t too concerned of the hitbacks and the PRs, but too bad, there are some who won’t take a peek if you are PR-less, sigh….

# MICHELLE: You can try PPP, chelle. But be warned of all the oopps you are going to take. As what Kuya Jessie keep reminding us, the offers we should grab are those that are still relevant with our page. You can ask Kuya Jessie for more tips, hehe. Still would love to talk more about it with you soon…

Here is the thing for me … I do not intend to make money at my blog, and have no sponsered ads. You would think that I would not care about PR / Technorati / etc, etc …
I do to an extent, and it is like a great game of chess, to some degree, when blogging. I find the WHOLE process interesting. With that said, I know how it feels to put effort into something, and then see the work seem to have meant nothing at all. My page “authority” has been an up and down rollercoaster ride, and for a while, my outgoing links would NOT be picked up. This drove me crazy.
Like you, ranks are not the most important thing though …. I agree that the people you meet and find out there in the blogoshere are the real and true reason most of us do this “blogging thing”
Best wishes to you. I send a smile your way!! Don’t let this small pothole in the road slow you down – I know it won’t
Happy week to you,
Eric, “Speedcat Hollydale”

@ ERIC: It’s always a pleasure to have you around here in my page and hearing your great mind talk again. Yeah, I know you’ve been blogging for fun and I always find myself smiling whenever I get to visit you. Very humorous photos and write- ups.
Keep it up!

My blog’s PR too was dropped from PR 3 to PR 0 after only a month of enjoying PPP paid blogging. But you know what I made a decent amount of money during that time and I’ve no regrets.
