A Father’s Love in the Eyes of a Wife

Australia celebrates Father’s Day every first Sunday of September. It is a beautiful opportunity to celebrate the unique and important role of fathers in every families.

It wasn’t too long ago when my husband had his first taste of fatherhood. Having witnessed it all from Day 1, I must say that he’s doing an exceptionally marvellous job.

Setting modesty aside, my husband looks younger than his age.

The awesome and wonderful Dad of my son 😘

But he aged quite a fair bit after our son was born. He has been a hands-on Dad and being robbed of his normal routines and sleeping patterns were the norm since then. Thus, the increasing wrinkles around his eyes.

He is everything that I prayed for as a father to our son. His kind, gentle but strong demeanor around our little darling boy is something very rare and special. His loving and caring ways towards childrearing is undoubtedly one of a kind.

I feel extremely proud that I married a man who is the best father there is to our firstborn. It is such an honor to have witnessed how he has found his way through all the Daddy duties that he has to perform day in and day out with no complaints. No buts. No ifs.

I still feel amazed at the special bond and interaction between my two boys; it is something that only they can fathom. I can see it by just looking into their eyes.

Our son is still too little to appreciate everything his Dad does for him but he’s got me for a witness, ha! ha! 😂

Happy Father’s Day, Dad! You’re our Boss for the day 😜

Oh how my heart melts with every hug and cuddle he gives, every play time he shares, every moment that he listens patiently and intently to our son’s oohs, aahs, and coos, everytime he perform his fatherly duties with so much love and dedication, everytime he takes a deep breath and sees things from our child’s perspective. He can’t wait to teach him all the appropriate values and virtues so he will grow up to be a decent man and will know how to show up with honor and integrity, and so much more!

My heart swells with pride to celebrate this man I married who is also the awesome father of my son. Life is meaningful and precious because of him. 😘

Happy Father’s Day!

Fatherhood and What It Really Means

I deemed it appropriate to ask my husband what fatherhood means to him. I’d rather not put words into his mouth thus I felt the need to ask. He briefly retorted that it is an incredible thing.

Being the persistent blogger that I am, I further asked:

“Incredible in what way?”

Getting his perspectives of what fatherhood really meant for him is actually a good idea. However, I personally find it self-serving. There is no way he would speak high and mighty about himself because that’s not just him. My husband is such a low-key, low-profile individual who has got no hang-ups in life. No fuss, no dramas.

So I entirely deviated from what I actually want this post to mean. I feel that I saw all the tranformations that took place when he became a father. I say that because from the day he performed the first nappy change and when he stayed up all night to nurse our then newborn babe, I could not have imagined that he would be so strongly connected, involved, and supportive; but he amazingly is!

From a mother and wife’s perspectives, I saw with my very own eyes and felt from the depth of my heart how fatherhood really meant for my husband. Seeing the beautiful relationship between husband and son unfolding before my very eyes is unmatched!

My precious gifts!

My precious gifts!

Coming home from work everyday now has a totally bigger meaning and purpose. With all the mundane tasks that he has to perform around the house, fatherhood has definitely sunk in.

He has been a hands-on Dad performing several tasks all for the love of Jamie: changing nappy, changing clothes, washing and sterelising feeding bottles, settling the baby to sleep, and waking up in the middle of the night to feed him when I am too deadbeat to do it.

Apart from that, he wakes up very early in the morning so I could get more sleep, feeding and nursing our baby each time I am preoccupied with other household chores. On top of it all, he has the ability to transform himself into a funny clown when the need arises. When our baby feels bored while watching him wash the dishes, his rare antics, which include doing the Michael Jackson breakdance (LOL!)- would immediately plaster back the smile on Jamie’s face.

He has that very special interaction and connection with our son that I find so rare and special!

My precious boys!

My precious boys!

He is indeed doing a marvellous job looking after me and our adorable bundle of joy. He has done a conscious effort of being there all the way for me as his wife and the mother of his son.

I would have felt so miserable had he not been putting his weight into all these. I am the luckiest because he helps me out in the best way he knows how. Not only does he recognize that his support means a mountain to me but he also finds it imperative that I need time to be alone. “Me” time to reinvigorate me so I’d be ready to face another day. He’d so often volunteered to mind Jamie; prodding me to go out with friends and have a good time. There was an instance where he babysat and out I was with some girls enjoying a videoke marathon. Lol!

This is the kind of man I married two years ago who is now a doting and an incredible father to our adorable son. Both of them are God’s perfect gifts to me. They make my life worth the while!

Mummy and Daddy To-Be

Mummy and Daddy To-Be

We can assure you that this beautiful news being withheld up to this very moment has been nothing more than us protecting what is most sacred and precious- a new life that beats and was far from reaching its 12-week milestone.

Thanks to our family and friends who have respected our privacy over the past crucial weeks; allowing us the privilege and honor every couple deserves- to share the wonderful news ourselves. It is such a beautiful and special moment and we couldn’t be any happier!

To our prayer warriors, thank you so much! Your prayers meant so much to our family especially in my most fretting moments. To those special people who have shared our wonderful highs and subterranean lows, we are grateful for having you in our lives!

We give back all the glory, honor, and praises to our Lord God Almighty for bestowing in us this precious gift of life. For this child we prayed; and the Lord has granted us what we asked of Him (I Samuel 1:27). Indeed, prayers can move mountains and He has made all things possible!
