A Birthday Filled With Overflowing Gratitude

I am aware I have been slacking across my blogs. My birthday took place almost four weeks ago and I am only writing about it now. That is indolence at its finest! Hahaha! 😂 I have learned to ditch the excuses. It doesn’t really matter now as I don’t have a crowd nor a readership to please anyway. But in case you’re interested to know, I might just talk more about it in my next post. 😜

My birthday came and went in a flash! I got stuck with 25 as you may very well know it. But who knows? This might be the last year as I get bored and tired of that number too you know. Β 😂😂😂

Well, it was very hectic. Our original plan was to go for a coastal walk; I had been wanting to do this for the longest time! When my husband asked me what I wanted to do on my birthday, I saw it as an opportunity to get this done. 😂

But he had his own way of surprising me even before then. A bouquet of long-stemmed roses was delivered three days before my big day while I was working from home. I was speechless! And I thought that was about it. I got the surprise of my life when at the stroke of midnight, he asked me to go down to the kitchen saying that he heard some “funny noises” and requested me to check on it. It was quite strange for the man of the house to be asking me that. I felt something was amiss right there and then! When I came down, I felt so touched and teary because he made all the effort of arranging the dining table with my birthday cake and card on it. How lucky can I get? I had never even noticed him doing all of it while I was busy upstairs getting some things done for another event that I was organizing in the Philippines.

Please note that I had all these documented in photo and video forms but I am just too lazy to refine the photographs with their corresponding watermarks.

On my birthday itself, I thought it was going to be foiled by a bad weather as initially forecasted. But it turned out to be a pretty day! We started the day rather late because we were mostly waiting for the rain that never came. Lol! 😂

We braved the hot, humid day. That’s not me. If I was in the Philippines, I’d hail a trike or use an umbrella to avoid the scorching heat of the sun. Ha! Ha! 😂 However, we made sure we were protected by rubbing off some sunscreen all over our exposed skin.

THE COASTAL WALK

We took “the most famous, most walked track in Sydney- no question and for good reasons.” It’s very easy to get to and passes between two of Australia’s best-known beaches, Bondi and Bronte. We made Bronte as our starting point for easy parking access.

It was a 6- kilometer walk, two- way for a minimum duration of 2 hours. It took us longer than that as we had our toddler along with us. My husband had to carry the pram every now and then each time we had to go down or up the steps. It was a tiring day for him!

 photo IMG_5398.png

But it was an entirely leisurely stroll that’s perfect for families. The path is mostly sealed with the exception of some rocky patches, and a steep set of stairs. The highlights of the walk were the coastal cliffs, views of iconic Sydney beaches, historic beach baths, and the Sculptures by the Sea. We were told this is also the best spot that gets visited by celebrities. We were too engrossed with our walk that we never spotted one.

It was a total delight and pleasure to have witnessed the beauty of nature on my birthday itself.

Everytime I celebrate my birthday, it is ruled by my heart- I feel it from the very core of my being- it is a whole year’s worth of overflowing gratitude, faith, hope, optimism, support, love, and friendship.

I thank God for the tiniest bit of blessings that I truly do not deserve but He has graciously bestowed unto me and my entire family.

Indeed, every waking hour is a gift and I am grateful beyond words!

Weekend Special #11: Jamie is Love

I haven’t had the chance to publish as much update as I want to but as I previously mentioned, I will do my best to update at least once a week across my blogs- it could be a Wednesday or over the weekend; depending on my availability.

This weekend is rather special; it is Jamie’s second Anniversary Thanksgiving in the Church. I spent my time last week shopping for a nice and presentable outfit for him for this ocassion. After so much fuss and dramas (I will write a separate post on this), my husband and I were quite happy with our choice.

As uploading photos will take too much of my time and will also take up too much space on my webhost, I opted to compile some photos from today in one short trailer video.

Have fun watching! 😘

Weekend Special #5: Sunday Get-Together With Church Pals

My Prince and I were invited to come over for lunch on Sunday after the Worship Service at a Co-Finance Officer’s household. Be it known that we were not the only ones invited out but also a few other couples.

Like my usual Sundays when I was still in the Philippines, I attend to my Church duties in the Finance. That’s the first thing I do on a Sunday before I do the rest of everything that I set out to do for the day which were primarily blogging and family.

I felt happy that I was still able to perform my Church duties here in Sydney. The group is smaller yet it’s still the same Filipino bonding although two of us in the group are married to non- Filipinos.

Sure we see each other every Sundays at Church but her invitation was hard to refuse. Firstly, the setting is outside of Church for a change and secondly, the aim is to develop camaraderie and rapport amongst us. Sister Irene was an excellent and superb host. She made us all feel at home! I was even wearing her slippers around the house. Ha! Ha! Ha! She’s rarely seen in the showcase of photographs though coz she doesn’t want too much exposure of her beauty πŸ˜‰ Seriously, I think she’s one of the prettiest brethren I’ve ever first laid my eyes on when I attended Church in Sydney. She is very charming and lovely!

Like most Filipino gatherings, music is always part of the fun. Videoke time it is!

It would have been great if all of us were able to get a hold of the microphone especially my sweet, darling husband. LOL! I know for a fact that he loves music. Downloading music is his hobby and that’s his “me” time in the same fashion that blogging is for me. He has that rare talent of composing some songs too but he hasn’t done so for a decade now. I guess he needs some inspiration eh? And you bet! He has got a real good singing voice too! However, he doesn’t like anyone hearing his golden voice. Hahaha!

Anyhow, we’ve had fun hanging out at Sister Irene’s house feasting on oh so glorious foods which are all a delight to our tummies.

Weekend Special #5: The Trip to Jenolan Caves, Blue Mountains, New South Wales

I believe that one blogpost is never enough for a detailed narration of our Excitement Over the Easter Long Holiday Break. Like I had previously published, it was one lovely time with my family here in Sydney.

There was never a dull moment despite us hurdling a three-hour drive up the mountainous part of New South Wales. The weather was cooperative; it was one excellent day for a day tour!

We had to gear ourselves up early. So this holiday break is never meant for sleep-ins. There was no time for groaning and moaning or any sign of complaints; I have long asked for this after all. Hahaha!

To avoid delays and to make sure that we arrive just in time for our 12:30 booking at the Cave Tour, my Prince wanted to hit the road by 8 in the morning and true enough, all of us were all set for the ride when the clock hit 8.

The long trek has just begun!

We were told that there were some roadworks along the way.

We were lucky that we had not encountered so much delays on the road. We were expecting to be pulled over for a breath test but we got away with it! Thank heavens!

It was no easy trek going up the Jenolan Caves. It demanded real caution for the man behind the steering wheel as the road was narrow and winding.

Like we had been forewarned, it was a busy time at the Jenolan Caves. As expected, we’ve had a hard time looking for parking.

We had more than enough time goofing around upon arrival because we were more than an hour early for our scheduled cave tour.

Weekend Special #4: Full Weekend Ahead

After two weeks, I finally felt so much better. God is indeed good all the time!

After living a recluse life and drowning myself in complete misery, I finally managed to fix myself up, put on some lipstick, and dressed up nicely. My Prince was relieved! He felt happy that he is finally seeing my old self back again. No words can ever suffice how much I thank my husband for his outstanding and exceptional patience and for loving me unconditionally. He is a real epitome of awesome and wonderful!

I also did some shopping. Hurray to that! Believe it or not, it’s been almost three months since I spoiled myself in terms of shopping. I never felt the need for it but knowing myself, it’s not me. I’d usually go shopping even when the need does not arise. I find it therapeutic or perhaps I was just giving myself enough justification why I had to go shopping. LOL! It’s a girl thing yah know! πŸ˜‰

I felt like a domesticated diva today. I did some laundry (Read: Hand-washing) after having a sleep-in. Then we went to do some of our errands which was not completed. We will do the rest of it tomorrow. We were finally able to book both our dental appointments. The receptionist was a friendly Filipina. However, my Prince felt prejudiced; she offered to give us a special discount all because I am Filipino. I am aware it was well-meaning but for a country that abhors racial discrimination, the statement was totally out of line. If we were in the Philippines, it would have been so fine. Well, I’d have to give her credit though for going out of her way to a fellow Filipino like myself and even booking us to a really good dentist. I was supposed to have my eye check done today as well but I had to forego it two weeks later because I need to get home quick to prepare for dinner. I will be blogging about my Filipino food experiment later πŸ™‚ Edit: My cooking experiment for this weekend is Pork Picadillo a.k.a Pork Giniling.

I bought some undergarments today and like always, the girl in the shop noticed how patient my husband was. It was not the first time he got complimented for coming inside with me. Edit: My Prince strongly demanded that I reword “for coming inside with me”, and I asked what’s the matter? And we both burst out laughing! Hahahaha! Moving forward, he patiently waited till I finally purchased the one I really, really liked.

We also bought a birthday card for a friend. While browsing for a more fitting card for the celebrant, I found this card and wondered if there’d also be one for the husbands.

No. 1 Wifey!

What I found was this:

It's not my husband's birthday just yet but I just find it nice ;-)

It’s not my husband’s birthday just yet but I find it too nice and funny! ;-)

Isn’t it cute? πŸ™‚

We also ordered a cute birthday cake for tomorrow which shall be posted over at My Bits and Bites.

Tomorrow is another day and like the blogpost title suggests, it’s gonna be another full day.

May you all enjoy your weekend in grand style!

Cheerio!!! πŸ˜‰
