The city’s charterhood is in honor of the tuna industry which made GenSan the Tuna Capital of the Philippines. Over the years, GenSan has achieved quite a number of accomplishments. It was hailed three consecutive times as the MOST COMPETITIVE MID-SIZED CITY and the Cleanest and Greenest City in the entire country.
And who could ever forget that Gensan is the HOME OF CHAMPIONS? It has produced quite a number of sons and daughters who were able to make it big in the international scene. Manny Pacquiao is among them. This is keeping the DTI-Region XII slogan: “Galing ng GenSan! Galing ng GenSan! “
Let me end up by greeting my fellow Generals a Happy Tuna Festival!
